The NBV organises a highlight event during the European Congress on Biotechnology in Rotterdam this summer on the 1st of July at 13:00h. We are proud to announce that we were able to attract two stellar Dutch biotech representatives to give a keynote lecture:
Professor Jack Pronk from Delft University of Technology is one of Europe’s foremost leaders in innovative, sustainable biotechnology using microbes for environmentally friendly conversion of waste streams into biofuels and fine chemicals. The fundamental research and the knowledge generated about the functioning of yeast and fungi from Jack Pronk’s laboratory has been the basis for a wide range of commercial applications with clear societal impact, as demonstrated by their full-scale industrial implementation. Pronk is Head of the Department of Biotechnology at TU Delft and Professor of Industrial Microbiology. In addition, he is Fellow of the American Society of Microbiology, Member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences, Knight in the Order of the Netherlands Lion, and recipient of the 2024 Novozymes Prize.
Linda Dijkshoorn is founder and Chief Commercial Officer of EV Biotech, a company with the main aim to make the chemical industry sustainable. At EV Biotech they create microbial cell factories: micro-organisms that can produce high-value chemicals, at industrial scale. What makes her company unique is that it heavily and successfully relies on using digitized microbial engineering, allowing to predict the potential of success for projects and saving 40% of the time needed to get from idea to market. Under her leadership, EV Biotech grew fast in only a few years, with an in impressive recent capital investment of 4,5M€. Dijkshoorn joined the Board of HollandBio in 2021 and was finalist of the EY Emerging Entrepreneur Of The Year 2023.
In addition, the NBV Zilveren Zandloper Prize will be awarded. Make sure to visit the NBV highlight event during ECB!
