	Wetenschap, snacks en pubquizzen bij het Jong KNCV Café Ben jij een jonge chemicus of student met interesse in chemie, life sciences of biotechnologie? Dan wil je het Jong KNCV Café op dinsdag 12 november in Utrecht niet missen! Dit gezellige evenement, georganiseerd door Jong KNCV samen met studieverenigingen Proton en Uranymus, biedt je de perfecte kans om op een laagdrempelige manier in contact te komen met andere chemie-studenten en professionals. Deze editie staat in het teken van directed evolution, met een boeiende presentatie door Clemens Mayer. Hij neemt je mee in de fascinerende wereld van evolutionaire chemie en laat zien hoe we natuurlijke selectie in het laboratorium kunnen nabootsen om nieuwe enzymen en medicijnen te ontwerpen. Na de presentatie is er tijd voor een snack, een drankje én een leuke chemisch georiënteerde pubquiz. Meld je hier aan! Jesse Buijs (31) richtte na zijn PhD de start-up NanoMoi op en ontwikkelde in samenwerking met het Rijksmuseum een apparaat dat is gespecialiseerd in het gadeslaan van materiaalverandering. AI inzetten voor een groene(re) toekomst

	Nieuwe gezichten in het Jong KNCV bestuur Dit jaar verwelkomen we drie nieuwe bestuursleden bij Jong KNCV. Emilia Iglesias Moncayo wordt de contactpersoon voor de KNCV-secties, Leo Sprincean treedt toe als algemeen bestuurslid en Lian Blijlevens neemt de rol van secretaris op zich. Daarnaast zal Merel Spierings, die al actief is binnen het bestuur, dit jaar de rol van voorzitter vervullen. Tatiana Svirniuc en Kimberly Tran blijven verantwoordelijk voor de internationale contacten. Lijkt het jou ook leuk om deel uit te maken van ons team? 	Yosta de Stigter wint Jong KNCV Spotlight Prijs Op 10 oktober kwamen zo’n 300 bezoekers samen in theater Flint te Amersfoort voor de negende editie van de Avond van de Chemie, een sprankelende avond vol energie. Voorafgaand aan dit evenement genoten 20 KNCV’ers van een heerlijk Chinees buffet tijdens het Jong KNCV theaterdiner. Dit diner zorgde voor een ontspannen en gezellige sfeer, de perfecte opmaat naar een avond vol wetenschap en muziek. De avond zelf begon met een muzikaal welkom door De Meisjes met de Wijsjes, die met hun prachtige, op maat gemaakte liedjes de toon zetten. Na deze inspirerende aftrap van computationeel chemicus Gerard van Westen was het tijd voor de Jong KNCV Spotlight Prijs pitches, waarbij drie promovendi—Etienne Walraven, Yosta de Stigter en Maddy Honey—elk drie minuten kregen om hun onderzoek te presenteren. Ze gebruikten visuele hulpmiddelen, live experimenten en wisten het publiek volledig mee te nemen in hun werk. Uiteindelijk ging Yosta de Stigter, dankzij de publieksstemmen, met de felbegeerde Gouden Spotlight naar huis. Wil je de avond nog een keer beleven? De foto's zijn nu online te bekijken!

	New faces in the Jong KNCV board This year, we welcome three new board members to Jong KNCV. 	Yosta de Stigter wins Spotlight Prize On October 10, around 300 visitors gathered at Theater Flint in Amersfoort for the ninth edition of the Avond van de Chemie, an electrifying night full of energy. Prior to the event, 20 KNCV members enjoyed a delicious Chinese buffet during the Jong KNCV theater dinner. This dinner created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, serving as the perfect prelude to an evening filled with science and music. The evening began with a musical welcome from De Meisjes met de Wijsjes, who set the tone with their beautiful, custom-made songs. Following this inspiring kickoff by computational chemist Gerard van Westen, it was time for the Jong KNCV Spotlight Prize pitches, where three PhD candidates—Etienne Walraven, Yosta de Stigter, and Maddy Honey—each had three minutes to present their research. They used visual aids, live experiments, and fully engaged the audience with their work. Ultimately, thanks to the audience votes, Yosta de Stigter took home the coveted Golden Spotlight.
