Nauta Chair 2016: Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Herbert Waldmann
The Nauta Foundation (Stichting Prof. Dr. W. Th. Nauta Fonds) installed the Nauta Chair in 1992 to award outstanding researchers in Medicinal Chemistry and related fields. The Amsterdam Institute for Molecules, Medicines and Systems of the VU University announces that the Nauta Chair 2016 has been appointed to Herbert Waldmann, Director at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology and Professor of Organic Chemistry at the TU Dortmund University (Germany). His research interests lie in the syntheses of signal transduction modulators and the syntheses of natural product inspired compound libraries and their biological evaluation. He is a member of the Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina and authored more than 500 scientific publications. The Nauta Chair appointment involves a plenary lecture and Nauta Master Classes on: “The Chemistry-Biology Interface: Merging Organic Chemistry and Biology to Inspire Drug Discovery” (Time: September 26-29, 2016, Location: VU University Amsterdam). Participation in Nauta Master Classes is free of charge but registration is required:
