Survival in the Chemical Industry: Safety Challenges and Solutions for the Chemical Engineer

The symposium ‘Survival in the Chemical Industry: Safety Challenges and Solutions for the Chemical Engineer’ is organized by the study association ‘Jan Pieter Minckelers’ and ‘Octave Levenspiel’ both from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry. The symposium will be headed by prof. dr.ir. Hans Kuipers of the group of Multi-scale Modelling of Multi-phase Flows.

The topics covered at this symposium will all be in the field of safety in the chemical industry. A subject that every process engineer will encounter in their professional career, but only gets minor coverage during the study program of Chemical Engineering at the TU/e. To give the participants of this symposium a look into this field of engineering, we will dedicate a whole day to this theme. The subject will be covered taking several views on the topic, such as safer production of polymers, alternatives for dangerous chemicals, process intensification as well as food safety.
