Symposium on co-crystals

Organized by: Dutch Association for Crystal Growth and Dutch Association for Crystallography

The design of multicomponent crystals provides a means to alter physicochemical properties of crystals without changing the chemical properties of the molecule of interest. This is particularly useful in the case of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), but also in the field of agrochemical products.

Although solvates and salts are commonly used in this context, the formation of co-crystals has only more recently been considered, which has significantly increased the solid forms available for formulation.

This one-day symposium intends to give an overview of important aspects in the design of co-crystals, ranging from the search for suitable co-former candidates to possible legislation issues.

Confirmed speakers are:
-René de Gelder (Radboud University, Nijmegen, NL)
     Data mining in the CSD.
-Joop ter Horst (Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK):
     Crystal Nucleation & Deracemization.
-Tom Leyssens (UCL, Louvain La Neuve, BE):
Co-crystallization under different aspects: from screening to application.
-Martin Viertelhaus, (BASF, Ludwigshafen, DE):
Co-Crystals and Agrochemicals: New Properties for New Formulations.
-Dolores Mendivil (VP IP Research @ Synthon)
Legal/IP aspects of co-crystals and polymorphism

The full programme will follow asap.

The symposium fee is 35 Euro, which includes coffee, lunch and drinks afterwards.
Students, NVKG and NVK members pay 20 Euro.

We expect to have the website (www.dacg.nl) prepared for registration by Wednesday  April 6 or earlier.
