About the workshop

Chemistry plays a vital role in addressing key societal challenges, including the energy transition, materials innovation, and advancements in medical and pharmaceutical sciences.  However, the Dutch chemical community faces growing challenges, from reduced government funding to ever-changing legislation. To stay globally competitive and strengthen the Dutch chemical sector, it is crucial to support and nurture the next generation of chemistry leaders in the Netherlands.

This workshop aims to equip young group leaders with the skills and strategies needed to navigate these challenges and shape the future of Dutch chemistry. This initiative not only ensures the sustainability and resilience of the field but also cultivates a more interconnected and dynamic chemistry landscape in the Netherlands.

Program

This fully catered, five-day workshop brings together a carefully selected group of participants who will:

  • Build personal and professional connections while fostering a safe, collaborative, and inclusive scientific environment.
  • Navigate the Dutch chemical research landscape, identifying key opportunities, challenges, and strategies for success.
  • Develop strong partnerships that bridge academia and industry, enhancing collaboration and innovation.
  • Engage in lobby training and apply newly acquired skills in discussions with representatives from the ministry.

The workshop features scientific group discussions, presentations by leading scientists and key stakeholders, and professional training sessions focused on mentorship, leadership and community-building.
